DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
 
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture seeks an experienced Director of Development to plan, direct, and manage all fund raising and instructional development programs conducted for the benefit of the Museum, and consistent with the mission of the institution.  Responsibilities include the direction and management of the endowment campaign, annual fund, including membership, gifts, foundation and corporate grants, direct mail, special projects, grant writing and general contributions. 
 
Minimum BA (MA preferred) in communications, marketing, or closely related field.  At least 7 years experience in development (campaign exp. preferred).  Excellent planning and organizational skills, written and oral skills, and the ability to motivate others.  Ability to effectively and professionally represent Museum to potential donors.

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

 
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture seeks an experienced Director of Marketing to create and implement an overall integrated strategic marketing and public relations plan for the Museum.  The Director of Marketing develops and administers programs to support the Museum?s short-term and long-range strategic plan and budget.  The Director of Marketing is also responsible for the public relations and marketing of all programs and projects of the Museum, maintaining and strengthening favorable public attitudes toward the Museum. 
 
Special duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research, develop marketing plans keyed directly to institutional objectives and
       implements those approved  
  • Create, prepare, edit and supervise the production and distribution of a quarterly Museum newsletter,
       website, brochures, annual report, exhibition catalogs and other Museum publications as approved
  • Provide direction to and serve as liaison with advertising, marketing, and public relations agencies under    contract with the Museum
  • Work with other divisions of the Museum to promote special events, performers/speakers, public
       programs, exhibits and acquisitions, and other Museum programs

  •  
    Minimum BA in communications, marketing, or closely related field.  At least seven years experience in marketing,  public relations or community relations ? management and non-profit experience preferred.  Excellent organizational, written and oral skills and the ability to motivate others.  Ability to effectively and professionally represent Museum to constituents and community partners.     COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSOCIATE

     
    The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture seeks a Community Relations Associate to implement an overall integrated strategic marketing and public relations plan in support of the Museum.  The Community Relations Associate also assists the Director of Marketing with the execution of public relations and marketing initiatives for all Museum programs and projects, while maintaining and strengthening favorable public attitudes toward the Museum at all times.   
     
    Responsibilities include:
  • Write, edit, and distribute information on Museum exhibitions, programs, collection, donations, etc.,
       to local, regional, national, and international media, as well as to the tour and travel market, and other
       sources of potential visitors;
  • Develop new avenues for media, promotion, and news information and stories, and maintain excellent
       working relationship with press and other media; assist in preparation of speeches, op-ed pieces, and
       other documents and presentations;
  • Serve as primary press contact for the media;
  • Create, prepare, edit, and supervise the production and distribution of the Museum?s newsletter,
       website, brochures, annual report, exhibition catalogs and other approved publications;
  • Coordinate photographic documentation of Museum events; assist in maintenance of community
       support and participation in Museum programs;

  •  
    Minimum BA in communications, marketing, or closely related field.  Ability to develop and implement creative public relations and marketing strategies.  Knowledge of the local, national and international media.  Excellent organizational, written and oral skills and the ability to motivate others.  Ability to effectively and professionally represent Museum to constituents and community partners.
